Feb 4th-March 17th

Hello Everybody,

Well it has been quite a long time since I last updated (last month) and a lot of things have been happening so I thought I should take the time to update now. First of all, I finally earned my ears at Disney Quest, and have been working there full time hours as a CP. At Disney Quest (many of you have asked and I have yet to explain) I am an attractions/greeter cast member so I operate all of the attractions at Disney Quest (ex Cyberspace Mountain, Pirates of the Caribbean, etc), and I also greet guests at many points throughout the building including permitting guests to come into the building at the turnstiles. Although Disney Quest would not be my first choice to work, I absolutely LOVE being a greeter there. Being a greeter allows me to spend more time with guests and make a bigger impact on their day. I have already received 2 Great Service Fanatic cards which at Disney means a cast member, guest, or manager can give you a card saying how you provided excellent service and went above and beyond. One of my GSF cards was from a guest who was chlostrophobic and did not want to ride the Cyberspace Mountain attraction. I took him through everything and he felt more comfortable with the attraction and rode it. He then told my managers about it and not my manager, but the manager who is in charge of them awarded me a GSF card which was amazing.

Basically I have feel like I have been meeting so many people in a day here (cast members and guests alike) that I feel like I still don't have a set group of friends here yet. Which is okay in a way because I get to meet so many different people that work here. In other news, I have started my Entertainment class which is taught by Disney professionals and is a really interesting course. We have guest speakers every day and learn a new topic on how to run a show in rehearsals to closing night. Most of the people I have met there are very nice and I even met a girl there who is transferring to the Marymount Manhattan theater department next fall. Today was a very worthwhile class for me because one of our guest speakers is a stage manager and a producer at Disney. I was able to talk to him after class and get his business card to email him a few questions.

Another cool thing that has happened while I was here was when I was getting something to eat before working at Disney Quest, I was carrying around my stage management handbook and this guy behind me asked if I was a stage manager. I said yes and he said he was too and he and his brother just happened to be the stage managers of the David Copperfield tour. So they gave me their business cards and told me to contact them if I ever was in Vegas. Anything can happen at Disney you will never know who you will meet.

That is basically the run down of things that have been happening here for the past month. Just a lot of working which can be extremely draining sometimes and on my days off all I want to do is relax. But it is worthwhile in the long run I feel like a more confident person. Although I don't always like Disney Quest, it has taught me valuable skills that I will need in life like customer service and speaking loudly in front of large groups of people.

So that is it for now, I know I am horrible at updating this, but I will try to do so as often as I can.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!
Elise :-)

Jan 29th-Feb 3rd

Hello Everybody!

So I haven't updated in a while and wanted to let you guys know what I have been doing. So Friday Jan 29th, I had Traditions which is basically orientation into the Disney Company. I don't want to give too much away and not ruin the magic, etc so I am not going to go into detail but I will say although it was long, it was pretty interesting. During Traditions we received our name tags and park passes so that night I went out with a few people to EPCOT to see the fireworks show called "Illuminations".

On Saturday Jan 30th, I had my day of general "Downtown Disney" training from 8am-12pm. This is where I learned all about Downtown Disney and took a tour. Since the training ended early, I ended up meeting up with Jessica and Joey at Magic Kingdom where we spent the whole day it was really fun we went on all the rides, had some Pineapple Dole Whips (WHICH ARE AMAZING!). We ended up getting stuck on the monorail on the ride back home for a good hour and Jessica and I passed the time by singing showtunes. It was some fun times.

On Sunday Jan 31st, Joey, Jessica and I met up with Brittany, Michael, Steve and Amy at Hollywood Studios and spent the day there which was a lot of fun. we also rode all the attractions there and even watched an American Idol competition. It was a great day because Hollywood Studios is my favorite park. After we were done playing in the park, we had dinner at Sci Fi which was awesome.

On Monday Feb 1st, was my first day of official Disney Quest Training. That day I did mostly e-learning which could get pretty boring at times and was pretty basic stuff. There I had my trainer Becky and met some really nice guys who were also in the group. After training I went to Walmart with Joshua to get sneakers for work and then had Jen over for dinner where we made some pasta and sauce for the first time. We then watched August Rush when we were interrupted by random guys who were introducing themselves to the building. We then finished the movie and ended the night.

Feb 2nd-3rd just continued more training with my amazing trainer Pam who is so understanding and nice. We then have our last day of training tomorrow then two days off. Then who knows! That's all for now! Hope to talk to you all soon!

Have a magical day!!

Jan 26th-Jan 28th

Hello Everybody,

So I wanted to give everyone an update on what has been going on the past couple of days. On Tuesday the 26th, I headed to LaGuardia airport in NYC and flew to Orlando at 10:30am. The flight was fine and one of the more comfortable flights I've been on. AND I didn't freak out as much as I used to. The funny part of the flight was that because of my nut allergy they separated me and my mom from the rest of the flight so I wouldn't have a reaction which we thought was hysterical because there was literally a wall separating us from the rest of the plane. We then arrived to the hotel and met up with Natalia and Brianna and went shopping to Ikea and Super Target to get some last minute things. After that, my mom went back to the hotel while Nat and I took Brianna to Downtown Disney and then we picked up Brittany after a tour of Celebration to go to the Jan 26th dinner.

The dinner, was great we met a lot of people I got to meet Karen and Robby and a lot of other people who I only knew through Facebook. So it was great to see everybody. Then while some people went to Downtown Disney to hang out I went back to the hotel to relax after a long day. The next day Wednesday Jan 27th, was our check in date. We all woke up at 5:30 to head over to Vista Way and were one of the first people there and when it was time to check in Brittany and I ran with the crowd and ended being first in line and we got what we wanted: a 2 bedroom in Chatham. The apartment is amazing and huge.

After check in, we waited for the bus to go to casting where we got our job placements, background check, etc at several different stations. After casting, all the roommates and Robby had lunch at Panera and then we headed over to the mandatory housing meeting at The Commons which was extremely long and kind of boring. After that, we went to Walmart and bought a ton of groceries for the apartment. We then hung out at the apartment for the rest of the night.

Today, Thursday Jan 28th, is our off day so we get to do whatever we want. So Nat is awesome and wanted to cook us lunch and then we are all going to Walmart again to decorate our room. Then we are going to a welcome party at Chatham and then who knows. Tomorrow Jan 29th, is Traditions which is an orientation to the company where we get our name tags, and park passes. Then Jan 30th, is the start of our training for me which will be for Downtown Disney attractions. I am very excited and am very excited to get started. That's all for now and I will post again soon.

Have A Magical Day,
Elise :-)

Goodbye New York!!!

Hey Everybody,

So I figured I'd do a little goodbye blog before I leave for Disney tomorrow! It has been a long wait but it's finally here and I am so THRILLED and EXCITED I can't contain myself! I am a little nervous, and a little sad because I will be leaving my house in New York for good because my family will be moving to Georgia while I'm in Disney. But other than that, it is all excitement. Tomorrow I get to meet my wonderful roommates Brianna, Natalia and Brittany. I have been talking to them constantly and am so excited to meet them all. Tomorrow, I leave at 8am to go to the airport for a 10:00am flight. I should be getting to Orlando around 1:00pm. Then I will meet the roommates and we are all going to go to Ikea to shop for our apartment! Then of course is the Jan 27th meet up dinner at the Ale House! I can't wait to meet everyone there as well!

So the rundown for the rest of the week is Wednesday is check in where I get my apartment and I find out where i'm going to be working! Then Thursday is our day off and we are trying to go see Blue Man Group at Universal Studios! And then on Friday I believe is Traditions! It will be a very busy but exciting week and I can't wait to get it started! So that's all for now and I will probably write a short blog again on Wednesday on how everything went!

Have A Magical Day!!!

Because I'm Bored...

Hello Everybody,

So I feel like I haven't updated in a long time and am bored so I thought a blog was called for! So first here is an update on how break has been going...So it's been going pretty well so far actually. I got all my grades in and they are all A's and B's which is great and I'm pretty happy with them considering I juggled 5 classes with 2 internships and a show all at the same time...yay multitasking. Let's just say however, I will never do 2 internships at once ever again...wayyy too crazy. However, I loved both very much. So enough rambling, I have been hanging out with a lot of friends before I leave for Disney. As mentioned in previous posts, the gang saw Next to Normal last Saturday. We got to see the understudy for Natalie (Meghann Fahy) which is the understudy I really wanted to see. And she was fantastic. Here is a video of her singing one of my favorite songs in the show "Superboy and the Invisible Girl" at the "At This Performance" concert: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mnR92jVR6PE. I highly encourage you to check it out!

So since then, there has been more hanging out and a lot of spending time with my mom and brother who are both home as well. In between, I have been doing a lot of writing as well as I have taken a step back from writing my fantasy novel and have started writing a book of short stories. So I will continue to work on that for the rest of break and throughout Disney when I have time. So definitely keep an eye out for that in the near future.

So that is all the updates for now, but I will be updating again with a packing blog when I get more things together...Talk to you all soon!

Have A Magical Day!

Winter Break/Roommate Update!

Hello Everybody!

So this is going to be another short blog update but I do have some Disney news I thought I'd share. So first I'll start with that. So part 1 of Disney news is that I have found two awesome girls who are going to be suitemates with me and my roommate Brianna. Their names are Natalia and Brittany and I am so excited to room with them! They are so nice and we all get along really well and it's just going to be a fun time all around! Brittany and I have been talking over AIM for a couple of months now and then realized we have the same arrival date and she needed a roommate and Natalia just happened to be looking for one so it all worked out perfectly!

Part 2 of my Disney news is that I finally saw the new Disney animated movie The Princess and the Frog. I won't say much about it as to not ruin any of it but I will say that it is absolutely adorable and its impossible not to laugh and have a good time during that movie. There are a few songs in the movie, but not as many as most Disney movies. However, the songs they did have were pretty good. So that's my review on that and I'm glad I finally got to see it!

So there is my Disney news now I thought I'd just update on my winter break thus far. It is not that exciting, but I have been seeing a lot of friends and family before I go off to Orlando. Just a lot of hanging out with the East Meadow gang and tomorrow I get to see the Carter family. Then Thursday we are celebrating New Years Eve and going out to a restaurant and then Saturday my friends and I are seeing Next to Normal in the city. And I get to see Lauren who I haven't seen since last year. So that is this week's plans and I have no idea what is to come but I will try and update as more news comes my way! And for those of you who arrive on January 27th don't forget that there is now a January 26th meet up dinner! Join the facebook event page! I just can't believe how close it is getting and can't wait to go down there and meet everyone!

Have A Magical Day!!!
