Feb 4th-March 17th

Hello Everybody,

Well it has been quite a long time since I last updated (last month) and a lot of things have been happening so I thought I should take the time to update now. First of all, I finally earned my ears at Disney Quest, and have been working there full time hours as a CP. At Disney Quest (many of you have asked and I have yet to explain) I am an attractions/greeter cast member so I operate all of the attractions at Disney Quest (ex Cyberspace Mountain, Pirates of the Caribbean, etc), and I also greet guests at many points throughout the building including permitting guests to come into the building at the turnstiles. Although Disney Quest would not be my first choice to work, I absolutely LOVE being a greeter there. Being a greeter allows me to spend more time with guests and make a bigger impact on their day. I have already received 2 Great Service Fanatic cards which at Disney means a cast member, guest, or manager can give you a card saying how you provided excellent service and went above and beyond. One of my GSF cards was from a guest who was chlostrophobic and did not want to ride the Cyberspace Mountain attraction. I took him through everything and he felt more comfortable with the attraction and rode it. He then told my managers about it and not my manager, but the manager who is in charge of them awarded me a GSF card which was amazing.

Basically I have feel like I have been meeting so many people in a day here (cast members and guests alike) that I feel like I still don't have a set group of friends here yet. Which is okay in a way because I get to meet so many different people that work here. In other news, I have started my Entertainment class which is taught by Disney professionals and is a really interesting course. We have guest speakers every day and learn a new topic on how to run a show in rehearsals to closing night. Most of the people I have met there are very nice and I even met a girl there who is transferring to the Marymount Manhattan theater department next fall. Today was a very worthwhile class for me because one of our guest speakers is a stage manager and a producer at Disney. I was able to talk to him after class and get his business card to email him a few questions.

Another cool thing that has happened while I was here was when I was getting something to eat before working at Disney Quest, I was carrying around my stage management handbook and this guy behind me asked if I was a stage manager. I said yes and he said he was too and he and his brother just happened to be the stage managers of the David Copperfield tour. So they gave me their business cards and told me to contact them if I ever was in Vegas. Anything can happen at Disney you will never know who you will meet.

That is basically the run down of things that have been happening here for the past month. Just a lot of working which can be extremely draining sometimes and on my days off all I want to do is relax. But it is worthwhile in the long run I feel like a more confident person. Although I don't always like Disney Quest, it has taught me valuable skills that I will need in life like customer service and speaking loudly in front of large groups of people.

So that is it for now, I know I am horrible at updating this, but I will try to do so as often as I can.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!
Elise :-)
